Georgia Chakos Ferrell is the Executive Director of Safe Harbor Coronado. She has a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from San Diego State University, spent time in West Africa with the United States Peace Corps and has many years of experience in running her own/family businesses. At Safe Harbor Coronado, Georgia’s goal is to support the community of Coronado by providing tools, resources, and industry professionals to help youth and families navigate life. Community and connection are the cornerstone to managing mental wellness challenges. Building collaborations to address these issues is key. Georgia grew up in Coronado and is an alumnus of Coronado High School, currently attended by her two children.
Julie Lai is a registered associate marriage and family therapist and serves as Safe Harbor’s clinical counselor and community education specialist. She specializes in working with youth and families and is a certified positive discipline parent educator.
Her goal is to empower clients to know their goodness and strengths while also providing a safe place to explore and grow. She works hard to not only reach those who come into Safe Harbor’s office but everyone in the Coronado community through social media, articles, and speaking engagements.
